Disney Buying Lucasfilm

How does everyone think of Disney buying Lucasfilm?

Lucasfilm has brought us one of the greatest Science Fiction series in the world: STAR WARS!

The good points about this:

The Star Wars saga seemed to have come to a screeching hault. After the Clone Wars movie and TV series on Cartoon Network, it looks like they were wrapping up the series. George Lucas giving it to Disney would help them remake Episode VII and onwards (they did confirm they would make more than 1).

The bad points about this:

A lot of people do not know this, but Star Wars has licensed fanfiction novels that picks up from Episode VI. "The Truce at Bakura" takes place 24 hours after the Battle of Endor; and it has many other sagas afterwards made by other authors. These fanfictions got the LICENSED Star Wars brandname; so it's like George Lucas approved of these novels, and classified them all as canon in the Star Wars series. Disney tampering with the Star Wars series would probably wipe out all existence of the fanficion, upsetting millions of Star Wars fans.


What is your opinion on this?

I've read every single Star Wars book which has ever come out. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. They are far from being Fan Fiction. You know, because they are official product, and Lucas put certain limitations on them. And all of them fit in to a general canon. Disney, I doubt, would wipe the books out, considering, they make up the majority of the story. Books like the Thrawn Trilogy, are critically acclaimed and some even claim better than the films. Disney's best route would be to adapt the books. My main concern is that Disney is going to take strides to make things politically correct like they did with Marvel. I'm still pretty pissed they killed off White Nick Fury and replaced him with his black "son" Nick Fury Jr. who they proceeded to take his eye away as well. I also fear that Disney is going to add in contemporary pop music. I swear to god, if there is a single piece not done by John Williams, I'm going to smack a bitch. I think Episode VII is the worst route they can go and hope they reconsider. An Old Republic movie would make me jizz. I wanna see Revan on the big screen.

This always signaled the beginning of Star Wars for me.

Let's just hope they do something right. The only way I can currently respect Disney is through Kingdom Hearts. (And Wreck-It Ralph)

As long as they keep Star Wars the same as it was back then, then I'm ok with it. I don't want them to ruin Star Wars.

Oh my god that was perfect!

A lot of people are talking about Star Wars, but we forgot one other major film Lucasfilm has rights over: Indiana Jones!

and apparantly now they are looking to buy hasbro. that would mean no more mlp for me. dammit disney!

I highly doubt it. Disney has a partnership with Mattel and it would be unnecessary for them to buy Hasbro.

That's right. Mattel is enough to do a Barbie fairy princess or Hot Wheels movie.

Hasbro has joint-ventures with Discovery Communication. If Disney decides to ever buy Hasbro, The Hub will get taken off the air, and all of the shows will be on the Disney Channel because Disney is not in business with Discovery Communications.

It would just be a big, bloody mess!

Whoever made that rumor that Disney is buying Hasbro is trolling the bronies because of them recently buying Lucasfilm.
