This is to help you understand exactly what it was about Halo 2 that kept us from not NEEDING new games every year. Game developers have deliberately lessened the re playability of their games in order to sell them more often. Obviously there was "basic" Halo, but we'll start with the most obvious.


Competitive Gaming




While on the surface Competitive gaming may seem like a more evolved form of your bare bones game, the truth is the subculture that evolved around it was ground breaking, never before were Video Games played during PRIMETIME hours on a national TV Broadcast, Pro gamers now have the "Verified celebrity - Athlete" tag on Twitter searches. E-Sports are the next big sporting event, and it all began in the mainstream with Halo 2.

To describe this, I'll just say watch this video and then go try to do anything SIMILAR to this on a modern game(If you lazy and don't want to see pimp Intros, the actual jumps start at 1:06).



I'm serious, go put in Halo 2 and try ANY of those. Go on. Fucking magnets.

Machinima

While Machinima existed PRIOR TO H2, it really took off thanks to Hollywood Halo, ranging from silly to serious, the first video will give a 2nd look at trick jumps as well.
